The past four months have been challenging as there was a lot of learning to do. Working in a new, booming place like Bangalore has given me adequate exposure in all fields of the retail business. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity of understanding the retail business thoroughly, right from marketing to merchandising through to operations I am handling fresh format stores and it is quite challenging as fresh format stores deal with perishables. There are possible areas of improvement in many aspects. Right from the supply chain to store operations to something as simple as giving the customer the right product. There is a lot of scope for creativity in this format. In one way, this format, gives us an opportunity to educate the consumer as well as providing a convenient and pleasant shopping experience.
